I decided during the summer of 2009 that I wanted to make 100 little beats, figuring I could amuse my friends and also learn a lot. After I’d made a few, I met an eccentric venture capitalist at a party in the South Bay, and I decided to give him the pitch. He liked the idea, and he agreed to pay me 4 cents per beat, upon completion of all 100 beats. I did the math, signed the contract, and here we are!
